Feds to survey Cherokee National Forest visitors

The News-Sentinel reports that Cherokee National Forest visitors will be surveyed as to why they spend time in the woods and what they do there.  These kinds of surveys are always interesting, for National Forests permit far more activities than do National Parks.  Prime examples of differences include hunting, riding ATVs, and mountain biking.

Years ago, I saw a survey of visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that revealed that something like 95 percent or more of Park visitors never got more than 100 yards from their cars.
