University of Tennessee opens visitors center in Knoxville

October 3, 2006

People visiting the University of Tennessee/Knoxville now have a place to begin their explorations of the largest grove of academe in the state. UTK has reworked its old faculty club at the corner of Neyland Drive and Kingston Pike into a place where prospective students and their families can park and take a bus tour of the campus.

UT needs to extend this service to other visitors as well.  University campuses are interesting places to visit, often containing museums, concert halls and other performing venues, great architecture, and sometimes the best bookstores in town.

My picks for visitors to UTK would be University of Tennessee: Frank H. McClung Museum, then to Ewing Gallery of Art and Architecture, then up The Hill to see the oldest part of the campus, followed by a snack at University Center, wherein I spent my happy hours in days of yore.
